Powers Writing Process

Steps In Writing Process

This page has the 5 steps to writing a story. Just remember POWERS and you'll have a great story.

P - prepare/brainstorm

Figure out what you're going to write about, brainstorm, doodle, and figure out a climax or high point of the story.

O - organize

Get all your thoughts organized and put in order. You could put the pages where you've written down your thoughts in a binder or staple them in order.

W - write/rough draft and then revise

Write your first copy or rough draft. The first write up of your story should put all your thoughts together in paragraph form. Just write. Then go back and revise it.  Check to see if your thoughts are clearly written for your reader.  Did you use the just right, awesome adjective, steely verb, etc.

E - edit

Look over your paper and check punctuation, spelling, grammar, etc... Also have a friend look over it, and check it.

R -rewrite

After you're done editing, rewrite your story. This is the final copy so make it nice and pretty.

S - share

Share your story with someone and see how they like it.
